CenTor is the acronym for Centering and Torque. These two factors are what make this type of adapter so superior as a wheel balancing tool. CenTor adaptors are ideal for old, worn and abused wheels as well as new perfect wheels CenTor adaptors will balance any steel or aluminum wheel to within a couple of grams of what is theoretically possible with that specific wheel balancer and wheel. In other words, a CenTor adaptor optimizes any wheel balancer so it can balance as accurately as it was engineered to do. 

CenTor adaptors have therefore been used for many years, not just to avoid potential vibration problems, but also to fix those vehicles, that arrive from other shops, with existing vibration issues. So on top of avoiding customers coming back to complain about vehicle vibration, after buying new tires or wheels, CenTor adaptors also provide an income stream due to their ability to fix problems created by competing shops.
Maybe most importantly, only the CenTor Studs actually touch the wheel during the balancing process. In fact, the CenTor Studs touch exactly where the lug nuts touch when on the vehicle. Potential damage to the surface of expensive custom wheels is completely avoided.
 
Flange Plates and Pin Plates are terms often used interchangeably because they
are fundamentally the same. But, CenTor Plates, from Vibration Solutions, are truly
