Corghi Tire Changers Replacement Parts

Dual Pedal Valve Assembly

Corghi OEM: 900253298

Here is how it works;

The double pedal valve has two pneumatic circuits

  • Bead Breaker control (RIGHT SIDE)
    • Normally in a phase that pushes the bead breaker pull-rod out to allow for the free movement of the bead breaker shovel.
    • When the pedal is depressed, the formerly energized side of the cylinder exhausts, and the normally exhausted side of the cylinder energizes to pull the side shovel to the machine.
  • Turntable control (LEFT SIDE)
    • Normally in the last positioned phase, allowing no air flow or turntable cylinder movement. It is either in the JAWS OUT phase or the JAWS IN phase.
    • When the pedal is depressed, a positioning bar drops through a special cog, and starts into the next position phase. When the pedal is released, the positioning bar follows the path of the cog through to the next phase final position and rests there
    • In phase 1, the cylinder is energized on one side, the other side of the cylinder is exhausted. The turntable moves until the end of the stroke is achieved(or pressure is applied to the wheel), and then stops.
    • In phase 2, the cylinder is exhausted on one side, the other side of the cylinder is energized. The turntable moves until the end of the stroke is achieved(or pressure is applied to the wheel), and then stops.
    • No matter what phase you are in, only one side of the cylinder is energized, but there is ALWAYS pressure on one side of the cylinder.

When the bead breaker seal is leaking(not the valve), you will get leaking from the exhaust port when you are in one of the positions, either pedal released, or pedal depressed, but not in both(typically). If the valve was to fail and leak, you would likely find air leaking from the metal pushrod in the valve(the spool), not often through the exhaust port.

When the turntable seals are leaking, they typically will leak in only one position, but this is not always true because there are so many variable to consider. For instance, there may be two cylinders instead of just one, and they may leak in opposite directions, or rarely, in both directions.

Seal failure can happen even on new seals if proper lubrication is not maintained. Your in-line oiler must be kept over half full, primed and adjusted. A seal leak can sometimes be remedied by an introduction of oil(maybe more than normal), or by a light grease on the cylinder walls, followed up with regular lubrication through your oiler.
