This can be repaired. Most of the time, this cable breaks at the center, the part of the cable the rests on the curve of the sheave. If you remove the cable, cut it at 5" from the bullet end, then you can crimp a new cable onto the original, and reconnect. By crimping at 5" from the bullet end, you have several more repairs that you can make into the future.
